p.a.s pressure problem!!

by Mazgee » Mon Dec 11, 2006 10:29 pm

Evening people, know this might be a bit of a stranga question but does anyone know what pressure a calibra p.a.s system runs at??
It's a 1991 16v and im trying to get out of a problem (temporary bodge!!), that problem being that the oil cooler element of the metal pipework has rotted out so i wanted to bypass it until i can sort it properly!
Have tried to bridge it with a piece of hose thats rated to 10 bar (165psi) but during bleeding it blew the hose in half!!
Any ideas on why this is happening or does anyone know of a better way round my problem for the short term??
Any ideas would be much appreciated as i didnt think the system ran above 10 bar so might be missing something????
Cheers for any help you can give.

Somehow I don't think a rubber pipe will be up to the job....
I used to own this Calibra...
I now own this one.

Didnt know if this was gonna be the case or not but thaught that it might be ok seeing as it has rubber flexi hose at either end of the metal pipework to allow for engine movement!!
Obviously there is rubber pipe out there that will work, just gotta find out what pressure it runs at!!
I know the flexi hose's that are on the original pipe are crimped on but surely if it was a case of the joins then it would have popped the pipe at the jubilee clip rather than bursting the pipe??

Sorry mate, only just went in and read your attachment with the tech spec!!
Didnt think it ran at 100 bar (1650psi), obviously gonna have to get a new pipe to sort this one!!!!
Cheers for the help and the info mate!!
