I had Falkens on my old 16V, took it to the garage to get some new ones fitted which I'm glad I did as when they took the Falkens off we seen that they had spit/cracked and generally fallen to bits on the inside. There was loads of rubber that had come away from the inner wall. Was lucky not to have a blow out:mad:

This was on two of them as well:frown:

Were they inflated enough?

Nope, check the pressure on my tyres every couple of weeks. Mechanic thought I had a dodgy one until we seen the same had happened on another one of them:frown:

from my experience in my mr2 (grip v important there) the best tyre you can get has to be goodyear f1s but they lasted about 4k miles! then i used toyo t1-rs which werent as good in the wet but were decent in the dry, they lasted 7k, i then tried avons which seemed better than the toyos in the wet but i didnt like them at speed, seemed to be a lot noiser, but they were the cheapest and lasted over 9k.

BUT STAY AWAY FROM NANKANGS! these are ditch finders, the worst tyres i have ever had, were on the alloys when i bought them and didnt even do 100 miles before i got rid of them, maybe on an escort or summit simlar they would do but on an mr2 a difference in tyre makes a hell of a difference compared to other cars.

Yer iv had avon, rubbish.

Im on Pirelli P6000's which are ok, but arnt that great in the wet.

Toyo Proxies are good for the price but do wear quick.

My choice *budget excluded* would be yokohamas

You might find these usefull too...

Ive always used toyos, but this set of wheels i got yokohoma paradas....Il never use toyo again, ive just been to germany and they feel so good, flat out in the snow on empty autobahns and they felt perfect even on tight bends, no sliding on the ice and snow at all
