Can't bleed up brakes??

by pakie20 » Tue Jan 24, 2006 10:11 pm

Ok its a 92 Calibra Turbo. The brakes were fine to start with, got the usuall checkover for the test to find the pads were wearing more on one side than the other due to the calipers not sliding.
Got 2 new (Vauxhall reconditioned) Calipers and pads, fitted them and couldn't get any pedal. Lovely, master cylinder seals had turned and found out that this is a common fault when changing pads or calipers on vauxhalls.
So got new master cylinder (took over 2 weeks) and now after bleeding them up you have pressure and then after one good shot of the pedal the pressure is gone.
Can anyone help please??

Tryed bleeding them with an easy bleed system, used three different types. Bleed up all the abs system too and still nothing. Working fron the furthest away to the front which is normal on most cars. Took the old master cylinder apart today to see if that was actually the problem and it turns out that it was fine.
So theres 400 Euro's spent on nothing and can't be sent back as it was a special order. Still drawing blanks, the cars at the garage now and he's a bit dumb founded by it as he's never come across anything like this before.
Calling into him again tomorrow to see if he can diagnose the problem but he's spent over half a day on it already and doesn't know why he can't get the presure to stay up.
Please help if you've heard of this before, I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow.

no, you definately have to do the fronts first, I'm not sure which side, i've heard the shortest which ought to be the nearside but to be honest I don't think its that important which of them you do, so long as you definately do the front first.
