I know theres a s**t load of threads like this... but whats
Seached loads of posts on here and found out that a canny few people are having the same problem. Which is the ABS seems to kick in during braking just before you come to a stand still.
But the ABS system seems fine and works fine under heavy breaking and the ABS light only comes on under heavy breaking.
So if anyones got any ideas or suggestions (evens wild guesses) please lemme know
Cheers Mark

- The ABS rings on each wheel hasnt been cracked or damaged

- Ive cleaned them up (surface rust) wiv wire brush and steel wool as best i can

- Sensors seem to be in correct place... and all seem to be working (Am guessing ABS light would come on all time if they werent)

So if anyones got any ideas or suggestions (evens wild guesses) please lemme know

I'm having the same problem m8. ABS kicks in when the car is first started and driven for a few hundred yards, then the light goes out and all is normal.
I haven't done it yet, but you could either check it out with a Tech 1 diagnostic test if you know someone with one or use the paperclip test as detailed here:-

This should hopefully shed some light on the problem and maybe track it down if say, there's a faulty sensor etc.

Believe me... a Calibra without ABS can be a nightmare...!!! I completely flat spotted a tyre a few months back when mine wasn't working. A well setup non-ABS braking system should be optimally biased between all wheels. However, ABS equipped cars rely on the ABS to individually bias each wheel according to it's relative speed to the other. Remove the ABS and the brake biasing is all to c**k and you could find yourself braking on a single wheel even on a dry flat even road...!!!
