Alarm Trouble

by fraggie » Sun Feb 10, 2008 7:37 pm

Well i thought id turn the cally around today so the engine can be removed, the battery has been off since its been off the road (around a month ish). Today i went to put the battery back on to start the engine and i get a loud horn in my ear! The alarm is going off.

Now as far as i can tell the cars been fitted with a cobra alarm. The alarm itself within the engine bay is switched to the off position (there is a lock on top of the box which seems to be set to off, not that i have any key to move it anyway). It seems to be immobilising the car too as i tried (with the alarm going off) to start the engine but it wasn't firing. Until i sort this problem out even if i swap the engine it wont bleeding start grr.

No fobs or anything were provided with the car when i bought it and i dont know of any valet codes or anything like that.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Bill

probably a dumb answer, but have you tried locking and unlocking the doors by the key?

Which alarm is it that going off?
If it's a horn, then thats the standard vauxhall alarm, which is armed and dis-armed by the drivers door lock.

hmm interesting, it is a horn yes, so by locking and unlocking the drivers door again it shud disarm it? It never went off before when id taken off the battery?
