Automatic Gearbox Selector light bulb replacement

by greyblue » Tue Jan 15, 2008 7:59 pm

One of the two light bulbs that illuminate the automatic gearbox selector lever panel has blown. The 1, 2, 3, half is still lit, but the P, R, D half is no longer lit. So, I need to replace a bulb, but while I'm doing that I may as well replace the other bulb also.

Is this the sort of job I could do myself and if so, how do I go about this replacement? What bulbs will be needed?

I've searched the technical forums but I have not been able to find a reference to this. Surely I cannot be the first Calibra owner to have had this problem?

When you come to sort out the problem take some pics so that it can help other people if they come across the same problem :)

I think that's a good idea, to take a few pictures while I fix the problem. I'll take my digital camera out with me when I do so. Once I've got the pictures, I'll be back asking how to upload them to this site.

Another brilliant suggestion. Thanks big_gordy. Have you got any directions (suitable for a novice) as to how to get the middle console off without my breaking something?

I changed mine for blue and just pulled the cover off(PND123) and pulled out the bulbs.
