Advise needed on replacing a camshaft sensor (X20XEV)

by Johnnytenpints » Tue May 23, 2006 4:24 pm

Hi,

I possibly need to replace the camshaft sensor on an X20XEV. It currently has the older type sensor without the increased shielding. Can somebody confirm where the extra shielding wire needs to be crimped to? Also where does the other end of the wiring go, as I'd like to check that before replacing the whole sensor. Mine disappears accross the back of the engine to somewhere.

Cheers

Cheers for the reply. I got the replacement out of a mian dealer but no instructions with it, may give them a buzz.

have you looked at topbuzz,

haynes doesnt mention it

refitting is the reverse of removal taking care not bend rubber sealing strip inwards

Can't find it on topbuzz. Found it in the haynes but it doesn't metion about fitting the newer type sensor (the wiring).

Right found a how2 guide on another site

But I haven't got e-torx set so I'll have to get my m8 to do it for me and buy him a drink
