Window switches in the doors

Window switches in the doors

by GizmoGary » Fri Sep 30, 2005 1:52 am

Has any ever tried or considered re-locating the window switches to the doors ?
I'm thinking of doing it as I hate the switches being near the hand-brake... its a pain to reach them as i'm a bit short and have to have the seat quite far forward.

I'm thinking that in a bodge sort of way you could just extend the wires that go to the switches and locate them in the doors... but i've a feeling it probably won't be that easy.

Opinions/suggestions please

At the moment I was just thinking of using the originals somehow just to see if I can get it to work and then give it a try with some better looking ones.

Cav's had rear window switches that would fit in the holes in the front doors.

Yes mate some cav ones do fit.

You should be able to buy the trim and switches from Vaux still.

nobody's listening. you can fit the astra (~2000 model) rear door window buttons in the cally's plastic cover around the inside door handle. where the rear view mirror joystick is. it clicks right in. you need the plastic cover for the passenger door of a cally with the wheel on the left, so that it has the space cut out for the joystick.
since i have my wheel on the left, i need the uk version of that panel for my passenger side. and i will do it cus its a pain for the passenger to find the button with an armrest

I put on on the passanger door, (where the electric mirror switch is on the drivers door). It was a pain in the arse, but it looks factory fit, people use it but don't even know its a mod.
