Fuel Computer

by markybrisca » Sat Apr 05, 2008 11:19 am

Was wondering if my `96 SE6 has wiring harness in dashboard to take a fuel computer, if so is it as easy as plug and go or will there be more work involved? Anyone fitted one or tried to? Let me know , thanks Mark.

The yellow plug is sometimes very well hidden, taped up in the loom....you will have to not only look but feel about the loom

Hi - I recently got a fuel computer for my calibra with a 2.0 16v chip inside (big thanks to big_gordy for that, it all works perfectly). I presume it's programmed correctly - accept my car is a LHD import - would this make any difference to the readings?

Is there anyone on here that has this Tech1 device, or knows someone who does, so I could send it to them to get it programmed. I'd be happy to pay for this service (within reason of course). I asked my local auto electrics place and the guy said he knows someone with a Tech2 but not a Tech1, and the only place he reckoned was a vauxhall dealer, accept they wouldn't do it if I brought it to them. So i'm kinda stuck now. But the fuel computer could actually be giving proper readings, I just don't know, which is why i'd like to confirm the proper code is programmed in it - Is there any way on the device you can find out, by holding down buttons or something, what code it's currently on???

thanks

right,
when I hold the 2 buttons down, after a few seconds, on the top line it says '91', on the bottom line it says 'EC:01', then after I let go it says on the bottom, '8350'.

Going by that excel 'memories' spreadsheet, the computer is setup for Cavalier, program code 91.
Well. Looks like I definitely need to get it reprogrammed. The thing is, I don't know who can do it. Oh dear.
