Screen washer level low warning light on dash

Mine doesn't work. When I turn the ignition on the light lights up, so its not a missing/ blown bulb. When i wash the windscreen and run the water out no light comes on to tell me that the ater has run out or is running low.
Any help?

It sounds like the sensor in the bottle needs looking at???

okay. How do I change the sensor, does the bottle have to come out, if yes how?

its just a push fit on the side...but someone may have had the light on all the time and has shorted the wires !!!

Best thing i would try first is take the unit out and clean it up,try soaking in vinegar or something,this will take any crud or limescale off.
