REV Counter Flicking

Guys,

Just noticed when giving the car some welly, above 4000 rpm the rev counter bounces up to the limit and then down again, this only does it when driving, as you can rev the knackers of it and it reacts normally, the engine drives the same, I have an apexi guage I will flick that on the rev setting and see if that registers the same, anybody any ideas why it does it only when driving ?

bad earth somewhere more than likely

I have the same problem mate, when my car gets over 3k it bounces all over the place, very randomly I've checked every earth i can get my hands on, both on the fuel rail are fine! ive had the dash out made sure connections are ok nothing seems different, from the outside anyway, let me no if u cure it and do tell!!

Haven't had a chance to look at it today, but if I find what's causing it I will certainly share.

Mmmm, bit strange this one, as me apexi guage gives the right reading when the rev counter goes nuts, they do have different earths though, so will be checking them when I get five.
