V6 Cooling fan problem !

by martinb » Fri Apr 04, 2008 8:54 pm

[font=Comic Sans MS]After the engine has been running for approx 10mins from cold, - the radiator fan, alternator fan & the electric water pump are all switching on !!!
They stay on after the engine is switched off & only stop when the battery is nearly flat !!
I have tried the following as a process of elimination:-
Disconnected the plug from the rad thermo switch - fans still cut in
Swapped the relay in the engine compartment box from 'er indoors V6 - fans still cut in.
I have checked all the connectors to these fans & pump for any shorts or broken wires/insulation - all ok
I don't have a wiring diagram for the V6 so its a nightmare to trace
Can anyone give some idea as to what else I should be checking ?? or has anyone else experienced this problem?? - I have asked at my local Vaux dealer but they have never heard of this problem.

My fan came on when i turned on the ignition the guy who fixed had to replace loads of the loam some of the wires had fused together. The car had been in a bump and the wires must of got criped then. Got it all working now, hope you get yours sorted.
