remote central locking

by oly » Fri Oct 12, 2007 7:38 pm

i tried to unlock the car with the remote, nothing working so i swapped batteries in the remote still nothing not even the green led on the remote itself. so i unlocked the car with the key and low and behold the alarm went nuts. i quickly locked the car with the key and left it parked on the drive, eventually the indicators stopped flashing and the siren stopped. it is a standard vauxhall alarm (i think).

does anyone know what the problem could be, is the remote knackered or is their something within the car i shpould look at?

also can i unlock the car with the key and use as normal,

sorry for the stupid questions but im unsure of vauxhall alarm systems

thanks

Im not sure if the standard calibra alarm is the same as the early vectra's but if you switch the ignition on so all lights come on dash then push either lock or unlock button on remote within 10secs it will re-sync the remote to the car. I only presume the later calibra's had remote central locking as my 93 doesnt!

Calibra's didn't come with remote central locking as standard, so it's either a aftermarket jobbie or a Vaux add on kit.

You need to disconnect the alarm and find the problem (easier said then done) or get an alarm fitter out to have a look.
