Any electrical issues

just confirm this for me please.....

My volt guage on my se6 (c20ne) used to read just over 12 volts with ignition only and just over 14 volts with engine running.

Tonight its reading 10 volts ignition only and driving is dead on 12 volts.

I'm thinking my alternator is shot, am I right?

Being a member I get trade club discount etc etc so how much should I pay for an alternator and seeing as im really busy lately, how much should labour at an average garage cost (but I might be able to do myself this weekend anyway)?

cheers guys!

I wouldn't have said the problem is your alternator. Sounds more like your battery isn't taking the charge to me.

yea alternator or grounds

should be about 14.4V at tickover, i guess its 10V with ignition on because the batterey is flat

i have a 120 amp alt at home, almost brand new, done about 2000miles if that, cost £120 sell for £60if interested

still *normally* registers 14.4 when running evn if batterey is totally buggered

your engine mount on the left hand side of the bay......does your alternator belt go through it?

its an 8v and will be a piece of p**s to change, think the alt belt still runs through the engine mount unless hes got aircon (didnt spot it when i looked at it last tho lol)

the alt i have is foer the serpentine belt so unless the belt is a thick one that goes through the mount it wont fit without modding bits here and there

if it goes through the mont you can have it on the car up and running in 30mins!

this one was the biggest ampage one i could get!
