Because, when I bought my cally I had a dent in the Cill
It looked like someone jacked it up off the plastic skirt. In doing so they had indented the Cill.
Fortunately it was inline with one of the holes seen in previous pic. So with a flat bar through the hole I punched it back out.
No word of a lie!
There wasn't anything between the hole I used to cavity fill and the outer Cill!?!
It (on my car) seems to be a open cavity.

Well.... I had to go outside and take s second look myself.

With my floodlights on under the car I looked into the hole that I showed befor and I could see light.

Image

Looking up from underneath
There was a hole. This would normally be coverd by the skirt

In fact there where 3-4 (poor pic)

I threaded it from the rectangle hole all the way through the Cill and out the hole in under side

Then a horizontal test
Which showed 130 mm of depth

Meaning from the hole in my Cill it seems to be hollow

It would be interesting to see if s different yr car was made differently.

But I'm still 100% positive my Cill sections are hollow with no dividing sections.
Which can't be a good thing if later cars had extra sections and extra strength :-/

I'd also like to see some pics of Cill from Ally. It will be educational!

Last yr i found out the nova GTE/GSI was made from slightly thicker grade steel than the others.
It made me start thinking if all calibras where suited to c20let or 3.2V6's
It where they made differently!?

Hi Martin really enjoying reading your progress, just a quick question is this car used as a daily? Reason I ask is with all the rust proofing, as iv seen a lot of people painting and powder coating which looks really good but I don't think is ideal for daily use, what's it like to touch when it's set?
I'm gonna find me a reckless woman,

Just a touch of sadness in her fingers,
Thunder and lightening in her thighs.

Hi, yes the car will be my daily. (When I get to drive it ) Hence all the effort to protect it.
Yes powder coating looks so much better!.... But this is going to get dirty and used.
After a few days the wax feels tacky to the touch. Like its never dried or sets.
I've never had anything powder coated so I can't comment on how it's protected long term.

But...
I'd rather not spend money on power costing parts that are going to get dirty In 5min
When I can spend less on rust protection and not worrie about parts getting dirty.

I don't really know the benefits of powder coating fully so to that I can hold my hands up, just from stuff iv seen and what friends have had done, nothing really seems to be powder coating that will be getting everyday use and really dirty and muddy, as all our daily cars tend to do, and as stated it seems very costly prob because there a big craze about it at the minute, I just want to help try and prevent what I can at the minute until iv saved up enough to have a new spray job and start replacing parts
