Stolen Mk2 Cav hatch CDi E740FLF

by GreyDJ » Tue Sep 13, 2011 2:18 am

I know its not one of my Calibra Turbos but it was nicked off my drive in Milton Keynes this evening.

I've just completed its restoration, full of rare new parts, was hoping to keep it for the next 20 years.

Bastards.

Woooppppppeeeeeeee ;D ;D ;D

One of my mates spotted the Cav behind his house down an alley that he knows as a dumping spot for cars. He thought he recognised it and rang me this morning just in case before he called the police. We instantly went over to recover it. It is now home.

Damage is much as expected. Steering column top area badly damaged, radio ripped out but still there. However, it has been reversed or crashed into a skip or wall so there is damaged back panel/bumper/quarter panel/tailgate and missing trim.

Apart from that all seems OK. It had done about 60 miles and still had over half a tank of fuel in it. Looks like it was taken mainly for the 3 mile trip home from the pub.

Huge relief and thanks to everyone's thoughts and help.

John

At least this particular 'scum' didn't trash it. Seemed to have used it for the trip home from the pub, by the long route, with a little light ramming on the way.

This is the back of the car now. We are trying to save the hatch!

Thanks, its only the tailgate that is the real problem.

37k miles makes it really good looking underneath :)

Thanks for the thought. Fortunately I am a hoarder! so have spare parts at home. However get him to get in touch as I might put them 'in stock' :)

Thanks for the comment.

The steering column etc is now replaced and the tailgate is well on the way to being saved. It could have been so much worse.
