can someone explain why there is a no bump rule and what good it is?

Because if we didn't have the bump rule then people would be bumping their thread to the top of the new posts as many times as possible.

thats a fair point but dont you think 2 weeks is too long as after a week of no posts its gone and no one will see it wouldnt 7 days without post be long enough
