Stolen Mk2 Cav hatch CDi E740FLF
Re: Stolen Mk2 Cav hatch CDi E740FLF
There is something about pre late 80s cars, they are a very different driving experience with no driver aids like ABS or power steering. To drive them fast you need to know what you are doing which is not the case with today's cars. All part of the de-skilling needed to drive sales up or reduce law suits like in many other activities.
In particular, a Sri with 195/60 tyres and no power steering definitely builds up your arm muscles. With a SEH or XE installed the driving experience doesn't get much better, especially on back roads. Not as safe of as fast as the Cally Turbo but when 'smiles per mile' is the measure, no contest

my first car when i passed my test was an old 1.8GLi c810gys in silver blue, loved it but i always wanted the sri so i got a red one with the f16.5cr box and that was really quick ,and i still own my last one c90psf a gold sri with the same box and that was rapid then i laid it up because i blew the big ends and it has sat in a mates barn ever since, probably has now rotted away into the weeds but i still own it,lol

They don't normally rot away if they are under cover, more surface rust.
Sounds like a candidate for an SEH or XE to me

when i finally move home i am going to pull the old girl out and see how much work it will need ,
I phoned the mate up and he still has it under cover in his barn, but it looks like the mice have moved in to the engine bay so what ever it needs it will need a strip and rebuilt, but i am going to resurrect her when im home

They feel solid to drive too! My first car was a B-reg L Saloon with dog s*it brown interior and 4 speed! I loved it for a whole 6 months!
