GoPro HD Motorsport Camera

Im looking to buy one of these, wondered if anyone has one or seen the quality?

http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/gopro-hd-m ... amera.html

Most places in the UK retail at around £299 but ive seen on ebay you can buy from the states from around £200, see hear http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GoPro-Go-Pro-HD-M ... 335d2fafd5

Is there any disadvantages from buying from the states that anyone can think of ie different connections, software etc? Does anyone know how much import duties would likely to be aswell?

A disadvantage is that there is a reasonable chance you will get hit with VAT. That plus the carriage charge and there are often UK add-ons (like a charge for collecting the VAT) could end up not much less than the UK price.

Any fixed camera will jump about as the car moves, what you need is a Steadycam support. If you look at the guys running up and down the line at football or Rugby you'll see them. When they first came out the guy would drive me nuts running up and down all day at IBC.

Have a gander through this thread on MigWeb...

then do an ebay search for MD80 camera

Much cheaper and it won't feel quite as gutting when a stone gets flicked up and destroys the camera :)
I used to own this Calibra...
I now own this one.
