Shipment from Eddey
Shipment from Eddey
This is a general message to those of you who have bought bits from Eddey in Australia and who are piggy-backing onto my shipment.
He tells me that it is now on the way with an ETA of the middle of next week to me in MK.
Can you PM me postal addresses and I will let you know carriage costs when I get to weigh the stuff?

Yes, I was in at that time.
It was what we know as a 'driveby the end of the road' attempted delivery. That is why we call them ParcelfArce.
What it actually meant was that there was duty to pay and they don't want to deliver until it is paid.

Re: Shipment from Eddey
Not being aware of the activities (extracting money in particular) of our customs, Eddey put the actual value of the goods, thinking that calling them a 'gift' would get them into the uk ok without wrapping them up in christmas paper.
This did not work and, in addition to normal import duty and clearance charges, we have been hit with £73 of vat. Fortunately I was ahead of the game, for a change, and they are being brought in by my vat registered company. So that is now input vat
Eddey and I are now working out, based on how much each of us paid, the split of the £24 that cannot not be lost in the system.
I instinctively know in advance that they will be so damaged in transit that my company is going to have to get rid of them as scrap, nudge nudge.
The bill is now paid and the box should be with me on Monday.
Looks like Australians have become more honest than the original settlers over the centuries

Re: Shipment from Eddey
Gift under £36 is no duty charge ...and should have no business address or markings on the box ...and would raise suspicion if you had it getting delivered to a business as well
HMRC is wise to the "gift" dodge now
