Just got this email back from Dan the new editor of TV, I thought with Dougie leaving calibras would get a bit more of a chance of being covered, i'm stunned this is what he thinks this reads want and that my car doesn't fit in with there plans with the magazine, I will be canceling my subscription once it runs out
Hi Steve -
Thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately I couldn't offer you a feature at this time. While it's clear that you've invested an awful lot of time and effort into the car, it's not really what we're looking for at present. It's very heavily styled, and the market we're aimed at tends to shy away from overt styling mods like the neons, LEDs and extensive installs.
If we feature cars of this type we get a backlash from the readers, as they prefer power over style, and seem to object to very 'showy' cars. What makes a good show car is very different to what makes a good feature car, and while I can see why the VOBA chose your car, it's just not right for us.
Kind regards
Dan

Then the majority of readers are A-holes.
It won the Chairmans cup FFS.
Does he know that Steve?
Also, if thy are into power vauxhalls....did any of you know that they where not interested on doing a feature of Andy Frosts Redvictor 3?
It's the worlds first street legal ProMod Drag car.
On full boost the power is estimated around 3000BHP
It will do 0-60 sub 1 second.....(yes that's not a typo)
It has (so far) done 7.29 @ 199.8mph and that was it's 4th ever run in anger.
*edit* as the track was a fresh surface it was a 2nd gear launch and he feathered the throttle all the way.
p.s. Andy has said I can have a ride in it at Bruntingthorpe next year if i fancy it.
I think i will cancel my subscription to TV after this.........what an Insult Steve.

Re: Total Vauxhall
just got this one back
Hi -
I do think that the engine is excellent, and ironically that engine in a less 'showy' Calibra would be more featureable.
Getting the right balance of feature cars isn't easy, and sometimes it's hard to convey that to car owners whose cars we can't feature. It's nothing personal, it's just not right for TV.
Sorry!
Dan
so it looks like if you want to get in to TV you have to not build a nice clean car just put a big engine any old way into a vauxhall and make sure it isnt showy, F*** me im glad i built the "Drain" the way i have its for me anyway,

Re: Total Vauxhall
It's only 'showy' when the lights are on.
Is this new guy ex Ford or something?
Or is he a member on .com?
Be nice to see him at Billing next year....
I guess he'd never do a feature on mine as it's got shiny bits on it, the power wont matter.

Re: Total Vauxhall
read the last years worth of the mag steve im not sideing with TV but they seem to be featuring what they call oem plus i also tryed to get my fully restored astra gte featured and was told it was not individual enough and is basicly a stock model (standard) and wasnt what they were looking for as they hadnt long done a buyers guide on the gte even though mine has a gen 70k and one prev owner
last mag i bought was the billing one that you guys were in prob wont buy again till next year now
seems that these days if you dont have a vxr or a zlet corsa they aint interested
end of the day you have built your cars to be as you want them to be drive etc who cares what total vauxhall think i personaly think they have lost touch with the owners of more retro vauxhalls

not everyone is interested in big power transplants any muppet with a spanner can throw a c20 or z20let into another car its been done to death. it should be about individuality.

Re: Total Vauxhall
Hi guys -
Some interesting comments.
I can't feature Steve's car, not because it's a Calibra, nor because it has a bodykit - but because it's not the kind of car we're looking for in the magazine. By far the most difficult part of my job is declining people for features. No one ever takes it 'well' and I can see why. But some cars simply don't fit in with what we're looking for. Steve's car is an excellent 'show car' - It's got big flashing lights, a huge stereo, and some 'in your face touches' that work really well and get the car plenty of much deserved attention at events.
But - that doesn't automatically mean it's the kind of car we're looking for. It's impossible to please all the people all the time, and while Steve is justifiably proud of his car I know from many year's experience that it's not a feature car.
I take on board the comments about 'individuality' and that is at the heart of the magazine, and of the car tuning scene - but you must realise that the magazine is a commercial venture and it has to feature the cars which best sell the mag.
I'm genuinely sorry that Steve feels so strongly that he wishes to post his magazines back to me - but that's not really going to make any difference to my decision, and will just be a waste of time - far better to give the mag to someone else.
I'd also like to point out that if you have enjoyed the mag for some time, it's not suddenly about to change and start featuring different cars, or content. Hopefully what I can bring to the mag will make it just as good, if not better.
Sorry my first post on the site is in such a negative thread.
