That would depend on how much money you have and how long you want the engine to last.

The question is like asking how long is a piece of string.

specky ran 720 bhp in this tigra for a day until the liners sank into the head! i have "heard" of unbelievable figures being gained out of them such as 1500bhp but as said depends on how its built as to how long it lasts! i have a friend that was running about the 520bhp mark in a corsa b and it lasted 4 years and 44,000 mile (most on full throttle at track days) and that was just built in his garrage without running nos. it died from a cracked block so new xe block and little work and now back up and running in about 2 month. made 550bhp and 440lbft.

Define C20LET.

If you are going above 450bhp in a properly spec'ed LET, pretty much the only original parts remaining are the block and head casings. And some even change that, lol. I used an XE head & block for my main LET.

Furthermore, define usability. For example, with the Calibra, at the torque levels encountered above 450bhp the transmission/ drivetrain is a far bigger issue. The best example of a proven high powered LET I know of , the VMax 790, was put in an M3 as the Calibra chassis & drivetrain is so unsuited for that kind of rear wheel power. Some put BMW or Monza gear on the rear of the Calibra.

A new standard LET is good for 310/320, providing the relevant charge cooling, exhaust & fuel/iginition mods are done correctly. Of course the chances are most LETs you come across nowadays will be blowing out of every orifice, particularly the k16, so I would say 250/260 max is a more realistic expectation for a standard LET without a 'reseal'.
