Can't quite picture how a pulley could 'slip' on a dowel.... Either the dowel has bent, or the pulley has been damaged in some way.

How do you lock the cam pulleys when you change/take the belt off??

Did have a picture somewhere of some cam pulleys where the toothed part had sheared off from the 'hub' part of the pulley because they'd used grips to hold the pulleys together.
I used to own this Calibra...
I now own this one.

i use a locking kit when i did the belt, i think the problam is that i got my pullys powder coated if i had lef the old ones on then it wouldnt have happend, ill try and get a pic up of the pully that slipped the last time you can see where the dowel has made the round hole oval, once i get the front of the engine ill take a pic of the pullys that have moved this time,

got the Drain fixed today thanks again to the A team you know who they are, it was the dowel that has moved it looks like we never tightened the cam pully bolts up propaly when we first put them on :banging:
they are a bit too close

note the shape of the hole around the dowel
