Today i was supposed to be changing my front top mounts but failed miserably thanks the the F'ing tie rod ends. ONce the nut was off the joint just would not split. tried hitting the threaded end up with a 4lb lump hammer, no joy. Cut the sodding thing thing off so once the leg was off we could heat it and hit the thing out. still no joy. The boy is now going to take the legs to work to use the press there, unless anyone has any good ideas on getting these stubs out.



Also will have to replace this rubber damper thing. Do vauxhall still stock these?



Bloody wish i hadn't started now Still have the wishbone, new tie rods and cv boots to do. I hate my car right now, its nasty and not playing the game, still at least the drop links didn't snap

have you tryed heating them now youv cut it off, the last time we did the struts we took the arms off at the rack to save us f*****g the ends, to be fare they are only £7/8 each so best repaced anyway

Yep heated with them lying on the deck and nothing. Will be doing that next time me thinks. Live and learn and i'm getting too old for this sh!t. Lucky the boy is a HGV mechanic, he can do it all now lol

i have two rubbers in the shed i think as for getting them out grind the other side out and place a nut on the other side,get your splitter out and do it up then hit it bloody hard.

They had to go under the oxcycetaline torch until they glowed orange and even then they were hard to get out. Didn't call you as you were moving and the rubber stop things are order from Germany. Motor is still sitting looking sorry for itself in bits on the drive
