The overall plan
Re: The overall plan
whilst im awaiting my mirrors and lights back i decided to do a couple of little bits to the old gal today before i went about my business...
there have been a couple of posts about the colour of my traction control motor and throttle body ruining the look of the engine bay... so out with the hammerite!

my passenger handle has been fitted and i think it looks rather fetching (even though I could desperately do with the decals now
)

these are so much easier to fit when the window runner is removed!
still plenty to do

Re: The overall plan
well a little more done today as I had a couple of hours spare
my mirrors have been lovingly sprayed... (thanks dad)

and lovingly fitted

as the car will be getting sprayed between the rear lights in the same yellow as the mirrors and handles, I have loosened off the rear lights to get a good finish...

The back of the boot was out to loosen off the lights so I decided to give it a clean...
before...

after...

the lights are done now (they just need cleaning and masticking in place...

I also decided to go around with a cloth and just clean up some of the dust...

after...

before...

after...

heres the spoiler, currently waiting for the stands

and held up...

and a better look at the mirrors

unfortunately the girlfriends corsa looks a little sick and i think the headgasket may have gone
I might have to get the cally on the road asap

hopefully all will go well though

Re: The overall plan
right!
more stuff done today
unfortunately I am still waiting on a lot of stuff (including vinyls) so these will be on and up asap
I was up at 7am this morning to start the masking of the car for the spraying required between the rear lights and on the front bumper, so i took off the rear lights and started masking

a bit later my dad turned up with some massive dust sheets so these were masked to the car...

for the rear a hole was made and masked...

and sprayed...

the front was also sprayed but unfortunately there was some running so this will have to be redone at a later point

hopefully more soon

Re: The overall plan
well first off apologies for the lack of updates but work has really taken over at the moment so ive had little time for the car
last weekend though I did manage to do a couple of bits and bobs.
My front bumper required transporting from my dads so I managed to get it home. Unfortunately due to my masking the lower yellow part is slightly "steppy" and just requires another mask and lick of white paint and then it will be done

and finally i managed to get some aquarium mastik (properly waterproof not this water resistant rubbish) to fill out the back of the new lenses on my headlights
heres the finished article

looks good without being chavvy like the lights the lenses came off originally.
Sorry there isn't more at the moment but hopefully sometime tomorrow Ill get a little bit more done before another 60 hour week!
Thanks for your patience
Bill

Re: The overall plan
Couple of small updates again.
I have been doing a little painting on the bumper which should be ready to go back on next weekend

I also re-fitted the rear lights which has fixed a problem with the release mechanism (which was a bonus!

re-fitted the boot interior including my hard floor

and fitted my new numberplate

im still sorting out the decals so hopefully they will be made and fitted soon! just having problems with getting a swatch book for colour matching on the yellow
More next weekend

Re: The overall plan
This is looking great - I can't wait to see the finished article, but Mark1 is so right.
Looks like your Dad is pretty handy with spray paint.

Re: The overall plan
well yesterday I went to get some paint for the front bumper as I just had a little bit to finish off!
I got into the garage finally today (unfortunately im a very busy man at the moment! to find this...

unfortunately it doesn't look like the paint has stuck very much
I am away (again!) next week so wont really have chance to do anything until next weekend! Fortunately its the last week next week so i can really get moving on the updates (woooo!)
finally today I went around the bump strips with a scalpel and some 320 W&D and its now in this state ready for more prep next week...

and a little more paint at the bottom of the yellow to even up the lines

I am still waiting for a final quote on the decals so hopefully by this time next week I will have a clearer idea of some timescales
things are ramping up again though
Cheers

Re: The overall plan
I know ive not done any updates in a while but im back on the case now so heres todays goings on
First things first ive had to sort out these bump strips. Off the bumper they come and most of the remaining paint is peeled off...

they are then flatted back with some 320 wet and dry and finally wiped down with some panel wipe.

An ingenious use for a whirlygig and some string makes for good painting
plastic primer is applied in two coats...

the gardeners doing a good job

then some white primer...

i got the old girl out and she started first time and still runs sweet as a nut

more primer...

they'll do for today
gloss will be doing on tomorrow
Ive also ordered some HIDS so these will be going in next weekend
Unfortunately however the vinyl company has gone bust (the second to do this on me!) so im back at square 1 with these
Its all go again!

Re: The overall plan
well another good morning out of the way and i have the bumpstrips painted
first things first I wet & dried with a fine grade and fitted the strips to a masked off bumper.
one this was done I sprayed with 3 coats and now looking nice and shiny

the camera on my phone isn't great
I will take the masking off later to ensure no tearing of the paint
and to leave you with for the week, a back end shot of the car, looking nice and mean
