if the engine is running then you should not get code 31 ..as the crankshaft is turning

ok thanks mate,

so i take it, if i still get code 31 when the engine is running, then the crankshaft sensor has a fault?

ok thanks mate,

so i did the test again with the engine running!
but, it seems as if the process of flashing out the codes gets interupted, and starts over again, and this keeps happening again and again
during the flashing of the codes, it looks alot like the EML flickers, either in between each flash or during a flash!

with the engine of i get 1,2-1,2-1,2.........1,4,5-1,4,5-1,4,5.........3,1-3,1-3,1.....then back to the start
with the engine running it dont even get to complete the 1,2-1,2 part on most attempts, and on odd occasions it gets about halfway thru the 1,4,5-1,4,5 part.

would this suggest that the crankshaft sensor has a fault????

cheers
Ash
