That is a good price but if you dont need the base, and you know the gasket will go again in a couple of years it does seem pricey.

But then how long will this other gasket last?

Mine still looks like new mate. And no water ingress even though mother nature is trying her best.

so did you buy the VW one or the one for the Vectra

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tigra-Vectra- ... 53e831e8ab

it says that is internal dimensions of 56 mm by 42 mm

and the VW one external dimensions of 60 mm by 43 mm

I got the 60x43mm one. It's not necessarily a VW one really because it's the same size gasket the seller lists for a whole host of cars.

I just went with the biggest I could find at the time and with a little stretch seems to do the job.

Fraz, just read your post again and I see what you mean.

One lists external diameter and one internal. So the vectra one could actually require less stretching to fit but it's hard to tell without having both gaskets. I just looked at the sizes and thought they were both internal diameters. Can't be much in it though!

Finally got round to fitting mine today, very tight fit even after having the gasket sat in red hot water for 5 mins...looks good and hopefully wont leak and will outlast the OE one.

It's a gamble that will require time, in order to assess it's effectiveness...

I changed the whole base recently, as I found the Original Gasket itself, was not easy to seperate from it's mounting...

Some more photo's to assist the knowledge of such Topic...
