I am considering something around those lines the only problem would be that the car is in Newcastle and i'd have to pay somewhere there to do the work or alternatively I was thinking about just getting it transported home to Lincolnshire and then go about mot myself etc just not sure if it's worth punting 2k on a car with no ticket.

I had a car transported from Portsmouth to Lincs last year and it only cost me £70.

2k is a lot for a car with no Mot but if it was broken up you could make that in parts

Yeah that is what I was thinking, I have sent him an enquiry to see what needs doing to it although I would have no intention of breaking it. I'm in it for the ride not the money 8)

Only what's in the add, LE number 6 and stored in Newcastle for last 3 or 4 years.

Or you could send the AA round for one of those vehicle inspections for peace of mind before spending £2k on it. Looks very tidy in the pics but must be a reason why it has been sat around.

I know of a LE that has sat around for the last few years as the owner thinks it will make him money in years to come, if your going to spend 2k on a car with no mot the AA inspection could be money well spent as they dont hold back and make there report all fluffy

Spoke to the chap who owns the car he reckons it's rust free underneath and in the arch area and that all that needs doing is the front brakes due to the car being stood for so long, he even has some replacement front calipers.

I said i'll let him know tomorrow but I may well have a drive over this weekend and take a look then if i'm happy see about having it transported home where I can do the work myself.

What common calibra faults should I be on the lookout for?

Now that is what you pay for. In any Calibra.

An LE gets you a non-metallic black paint job. Unless it has had a recent suspension chnage, think of it as just another Calibra Turbo.

Thanks for the link bodge, I see the emphasis seems to be on the transfer box are they really that fragile/prone to breaking?

I see what you mean Gary but then I haven't seen many decent cally turbo's up for sale in ages.

they come up from time to time but theres no way of checking how good they are unless you strip it or fit it and try it out, I think the biggest problem is that pepole havnt looked after them by not keeping tyres the same so have a look at the tyres and see if they have the same wear and ask the guy if he swapped them round

Ok well I checked the car out all seemed ok, got some replacement front calipers with it if i'm unable to free off the current ones plus i'll need to change a fuel line underneath but nothing major.

So by the weekend I should have LE no.6 on my drive :)
