back on the road soon
back on the road soon
as some of you's know i also have an se9 which has been off the road over the winter. well it's time to get the old girl ready for going back on the road for the summer.
i managed to get a set of vectra cam covers earlier on in the year, as basically she had a really bad oil leak on both the front and rear banks. i got the cam covers powder coated before fitting them, thanks to v6 steve for sorting that out for me.
so yesterday i decided to make a start on getting them fitted, i already had the inlet manifold off as i was cleaning it up with one of the wire brush attachments as it was looking a little grubby it needs a bit more work but it will do just now.
so got the cam covers fitted and had just finished putting the inlet on and screwing everything back together when it started p*****g it down i just ended up putting the cover back over her, i didnt even get to turn her over
so today i got home from work and the first thing on my mind was to get her started and check for any oil leaks, she turned over 2nd turn of the key (first turn to pressurise the fuel rail), so that was a good start
because of the oil leaks there was a lot of oil on the exhaust downpipes so alot of smoke as it burned it off. good news is there doesnt seem to be any leaking oil so i ran her up to temperature to check the fan was still working and the alternator cooling fan as well.
i know the the brakes need done as i was getting shuddering through the steering wheel so i'm guessing the brake discs are warped. so this is going to be the next thing on the list

Re: back on the road soon
you need to cut the slats for it to fit over the oil cap, then that leaves the hole to be filled in where the old oil cap was.
i know a man who can do it so it may get done at a later date
