high oil pressure

by moosebuster1st » Sun Aug 24, 2008 9:57 pm

Hi, am new to club, just in the process of spending fortunes on a calibra turbo...I am getting high oil pressure (off the gauge) I wondered if anyone with a turbo could say what pressure they normally see whilst under load..
I have covered the basics ie new oil pump (relief valve) new sender about a year ago, new filter etc..
any help would be great,

cheers
Pete

you should have around 4-5 bar under load, with a idle pressure of 1-2 bar with hot oil

Hi no it is only underload, I found my sandwich plate leaking a bit today so gonna sort that out first, then back to high pressure prob, I guess I better start by using a proper external gauge to measure then go from there..cheers to everyone

Hi, Just an update to this problem, in case of use to anyone else, I did not suspect the oil pressure switch as it was a new vauxhall item only 10 months ago, however it was the switch at fault, problem solved, so if you get weird high oil pressure (+5bar) it may be the switch (new or not) the gauge moves about above 5 bar under load from just above the 5 bar mark too almost off the gauge, if like me your car has high mileage any weird oil pressure is concerning, at least by replacing the pump, I have no more oil leaks !

you'll find its the single connection to the switch being loose, crimp it up a little and push it back on

Hi,
tried that, it did not work, changed the oil switch and now works fine...

Guys can we check the dates on posts before replying.

Vxlgsi, the thread is about oil pressure so I'd guess he changed the pressure sender.
