Re: Wax, polish, clay.... help
hi mark, usually ill wash the car with tfr to get all the polish etc off it then do the following
1. Autoglym Claybar
2. Poorboys polish
3. poorboys carnuba putty wax
4. poorboys trim restorer and tyre gel
the stuff is really good and you get a good shine off it, poorboys also do one similair to autoglyms show shine. just wipe it on and it removes any soilings or dirt when u arrive at the show.
i used to use autoglym all the time but was really impressed with the poorboys stuff, its a little dearer than autoglym but realy good value.

Have you tried detailing sites like Detailing world or Juicy Detailing.
I use the following:
1. Pre wash with Valet pro citrus was snowfoam
2. Wash with Chemical Guys Mixi suds II
3. Claybar with Dodo Juice lube and medium clay bar
4. Cleanse with Dodo Juice Lime Prime
5. Polish with Dodo Juice Need for Speed
6. Seal/ Glaze with Chemical Guys Black light
7. Wax (2 layers) of a soft wax to give a 'wet' look
8. Wax with a hard wax for durability
9. Top up the wax/ shine with a rapid detailer
For the wheels I clean the with Iron X and then seal them with Poorboys wheel seal.
I would highly recommend Chemical Guys and Poorboys products.

Re: Wax, polish, clay.... help
My routine is 'Very Basic' in comparison to what some have just written up...
Firstly, I give the car a good rinse, then I mix the soap and water, and sponge wash one side...

After I've rinsed that side all down, I'll then go and do the other side...
I may repeat the process a second time, if I have missed a spot or two...
I then completely chamois the car down, doing the door jams and tailgate tracks...
I do the wheels separately, using a different sponge and some wheel cleaner spray...

Re: Wax, polish, clay.... help
depends what your budget is and what your wanting
Autoglym stuff works well polish and the extra gloss protection is good enough, as is the bumper care stuff for your trim and the interior stuff for the dash, and the glass cleaner as well
If your going to clay your best to also remove the tar spots as well...again Autoglym stuff works ...just the auto smart Tardis is better as is the wheel cleaner smartwheels
Clay I like the Bilt hamber stuff as you just use water as the lube
some micro fibre cloths and noodle mitts along with a drying towel from Asda and your just about set ...only other things would be a wheel brush
can go daft with it really

Re: Wax, polish, clay.... help
Eddey go and get yourself a nice soft hand towel and chuck the chamois in the bin as they hold very small bit of grit that damage the paint.
I do about the same as James but I have little men that wash it.

Yes Fraz. The glaze/ sealant gives it a deep shine look. Then the soft wax gives it a wet look and protection. I only really use hard wax in the winter for more durability. With soft wax the car will need re-waxing more often.

Re: Wax, polish, clay.... help
seems a bit overkill using a sealant then a wax, and your using about 3 glaze type products as well ...but each to their own
Tried that blacklight and though its good (especially using the hybrid V7 on top ) I much prefer a wax. I use prime amigo or poorboys blackhole then Collinite 476 on top, works well and last months
