Caster and Camber Kits

by zeebie » Sat Mar 20, 2010 2:39 am

Hey Guys,

With my new wheels and everything fitted the other day, the wheel alignment shows i am going to get a lot of tyer ware on the insides of the wheels and i need to get caster and camber kits for all four wheels.

As i don't know crap all about cars, but i do know each car is different :)

Anyone recommend what kits to get?

£180 from regal... i guess thats near on what you would pay for 2 good tyres that you would need to replace at the rear after a few months without a correction kit...

Tyres have been on the car 5 years now and haven't needed to change them and don't have a correct kit fitted.

Mark 1, have you ever heard of tire ageing?

Yes if you don't look after them they will. There not left long in the sun light which will dry out the rubber.

how to tell tire age:
http://www.tuninglinx.com/html/car-tire-date-code.html

about "5 years and cool":
1) http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html
Interesting note : in June 2005, Ford and GM admitted that tyres older than 6 years posed a hazard and from their 2006 model year onwards, started printing warnings to this effect in their drivers handbooks for all their vehicles.

2) http://www.bridgestone.com.au/tyres/pas ... e/age.aspx
How old is too old?

This is a subject of much debate within the tyre industry and no tyre expert can tell exactly how long a tyre will last. However, on the results of experience many tyre companies, including Bridgestone, warrant their tyres against manufacturing and material defects for five years from the date of manufacture. Based on their understanding a number of vehicle manufacturers are now advising against the use of tyres that are more than six years old due to the effects of ageing.
