Rubbish radio reception on standard calibra turbo stereo

Is there anything that could be faulty?

Just wondered if the Stereo could be knackered or maybe the ariel?

It's usually the aerial base itself. It houses a signal amplifier, but water will find it's way into the base and damage the circuit board causing it to fail.

You can usually pick up the bases off ebay for a few quid.
Aerial base

I fixed mine with a screen mounted aerial.
I used to own this Calibra...
I now own this one.

it could also be the extension that runs from the aerial to the passenger footwell, I change that for a new one right to the head unit and it got great reception after that

you have to drop the back of it down to access the base, then its easy enough to get it down into the rear panel and run along the cill ...thats what I did, if your wanting to have it running along the roof and down the A piller, then it would be easier with the headlining out the way
