Black Calibra being bodywrapped
Black Calibra being bodywrapped
I stopped driving for almost a year and i knew that i would have another calibra when i started again. So the search was on. I wanted a nice looking Calibra with decent mileage and good history.
So bought My 4th Calibra (2.0 Redtop) a few months ago from a guy not a million miles away from me, 20 to be exact. It was the first one i viewed. The pics looked stunning on the advert so off i trotted that day to go and investigate, So as i pulled up outside this guy?s house there she was, look absolutely amazing. It was like love at first sight and the colour was amazing. So i knocked on the door. An elderly guy answered very well spoken and polite, so thought were ok so older guy, got to have been looked after. So we had a quick look at car and of course the test drive. There were things obvious straight away like the steering and shaking around 70mph. but overall the car was fantastic and interior was clean. Every single MOT since day one and original V5 only 84000 Miles too. Recent Cam belt and Head Gasket with all receipts. Deposit left and that was that. I picked her up the very next night and a friend drove it back home for me.
I have always wanted to do something special with a calibra so i started to plan. A few months later and its starting to take effect.
First thing was new lights. So i have installed a new dome in the headlight that replaces the dipped beam dome for a Bi-Xenon Angel eye HID. They look Amazing.
Next were the Tints. 5% on back and 35% on front.
I wanted to do something with the complete look of the car without adding body kits on and having it sprayed. SO.......
I decided to have it body wrapped. After a long thought process i decided i wanted either Orange or Green with Black wheels and Trim.
i decided that the orange would look fantastic so i got the sample put on the bonnet and the results weren?t as expected, with it being such a dark car the Black was showing through and making the orange duller than it should be. So Back to the drawing board or was it? There was a second option. The Green, Sample looked fantastic and by now i could visualise the whole thing.
So i started work on the rest of the car in preparation for the wrapping.
So the Calliper?s were first and i had to source the paint from somewhere. Paint arrives and the work begins again. Calliper?s painted.
Next was the wheels, I had some matt black paint made for me from a local company, as it wasn?t going to be lacquered it had to be very hard wearing, Military style. So wheels off and a local company came to spray them for me.
The wheels back on the car and its completely transformed things, it?s all starting to take shape.
Next was the bodywork, as it was getting wrapped i wanted to make sure the body was perfect and there were a few dents here and there and also i wanted the bonnet badge gone.
So off with the badge and out with the filler. I went right round the whole car and filled every little dimple to make sure that it was perfect when wrapped as once it was on there was no going back without added cost.
As standard this car has an alarm but after having a Toad ai606 in my last calibra (good alarm) i wanted one in this so purchased and installed was a Toad ai606 and i even got them to wire up the total closure for me. Lazy i know but so handy when you?re in a rush.
I have also had some new number plates made as the old ones were a bit tacky looking.
Thats all for now. Will keep you all updated on results
