That's a nice car, good colour too - what's the terminal damage?

The water pump let go when i was doing 70mph on the motorway so by the time i could stop the damage was done massive over heat loads of hot oil and water everywhere wrapped both head's and cracked engine block so engine is dead

That's nasty, what a shame. There's a couple on eBay but ridiculous prices. 2 for sale near me in Sweden for 2-300 quid but postage would be a killer.

So tragic but I understand completely, fingers crossed for an engine. What's your budget?

There's 4 on eBay now, one for £295 inc delivery.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-CALI ... SwiwVWSyiT

Put your sump on it & also your exhaust manifolds (I'm assuming on an 'M' plate yours will be a C25XE so the X25XE manifolds will be no good due to the SAI ports) & there you go.

There's 3 others on there too.

Have to say though, if you're replacing the engine then why bother putting another 2.5 in? Perfect opportunity to stick in a 3.0 or 3.2 instead.

The blocks & heads are all identical so it doesn't matter what you put in or whether it comes from a Calibra, a Cavalier, a Vectra or an Omega. Just use the manifolds & ancillaries that are bolted to yours.

Hence my asking why not a 3.0 or 3.2 as again, your engines coming out anyway cos it's broken so it's no extra work or difference to put a 3.0 or 3.2 in instead. Would seem pointless going through a V6 engine replacement just to put another 2.5 in.

Fair enough mate but, tax is no different as it's a pre-2001 car & my insurance actually went down with the 3.2 (they based it on the Vehicle group the engine came from & a 2005 Vectra 3.2 GSi is a lower group than a Calibra V6).

I'm still gonna work on you lol!

You are welcome to try but 3.2v6 sounds like much more of a head ache to fit and get running
