Calibra turbo Project x2

by KERR_SE9 » Thu May 23, 2013 9:35 pm

As some of you may know, I bought the 2 Turbos advertised on .com (inc Splinters old turbo) plans are to slowly restore them to their former glory and possibly sell the silver one on, although not decided yet, So i'll do my best to keep a build thread on here.

First things first is a good clean and sort the riot of an interior on the silver one.Main points for white one,is brake refresh, new tyres, wheel refurb&tyres plus various cosmetic things! Silver one needs new tx box as 4x4 working but assuming tx clutches ain't great due to wheelspin and thumping when braking, ie can feel the 4x4 disengaging, bodywork is decent bar bonet, bit oof tlc and should be good.

Also just manged to get Ian's old car to turn over, so hopefully it will be running tomorrow

Some pics of what I've got to work with:=
Calibra turbo anyone? lol

Silver one, needs less work, got a seat and glovebox, new gaitors etc, so easy tidy on that
Finding the appropriate gaskets for the the turbo might be a challenge.

As for price, you're right, first not cheap or a real bargain, as they first appeared.
When i seen them,I thought "crap" what am I getting into, too far to travel for nothing, should get a good return on the silver one.

But its going to cost! Can't believe someone would spend all that cash and leave them to rot

Yass! She runs! New rubber flexis on fuel lines and she's fired up,can't complain as they appear to be original, must be a tropical climate down south! needing T-Belt asap and a good service as quite tappity, overall quite happy.

Oil is golden and I put a little down the bores, turned over by hand, changing all the filters and fluids today, ran it upto temp and that's it, hope its constructive criticism! Not going to spend money until I hear it run

I'm surprised at the condition of the wheels and they haven't turned to powered on the white one.

Well its nice to see it running again. :) The only Reason it was left was Derren could not get an mot on it,
Now if i remember right all it needed as the time was...

2. A horn as it has a snap off boss.
2. Rear number plate light as it was moved down to the bottom of the bumper.
3. A cat.. Witch i did go & buy one for him and still have it here.
