Calibra CweLET

by UndYinG » Sat Nov 15, 2014 10:06 am

I took my friends car for a few days until he fixes my f28. Few days later i managed to buy it via telephone :). It's a 1996 C20LET f28 4x4, most parts in factory colour, SFJ body kit (Ive got skirts too). XE inlet camshaft (retarded by half a tooth), Forge BOV, Recaro Sport Topline racing seats. I washed the interior, tinted windows in black so it suits Gargy OEM style (new styling section when someone wants plastic extensions but puts branded body kit instead of fiberglass Gargy stuff). Car is excellent, there was no need to watch it thoroughly. I have washed the interior and put LED in the car key for my friend before i even bought it but in the end in stayed in the city with bunch of calibras :).

I got EDS phase 3 ecu with powerwheel, saab reds and soon i will put it in the car.

Soon i will paint front bumper trims into blue, no more blue CARBONGARGY trims, put white LEDs in speedo and gauges, take black leather interior from my 8v except front seats, put some nice car audio, antiGARGY air filter (factory airbox with stock paper filter)

It has high beam xenon but due to slow ballasts i decided to put h1 Narva 4500k halogen lamps and h3 for foglights. Left headlight is broken so i will replace it with another sonar angel eyes headlight. Bought Lemforder accumulator bulb for 4x4.

Image

Interior got stripped, i will put 2 sets of Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1, fits nicely in rear speaker adapters, will make front adapters soon. Special Edition RCA's from Germany :), the usual front door cutting had to be done, now its 165mm hole, european standard :). Zealum 50mm2 power cable went trough nicely.

It's a good mod but mine has ugly speedo lighting :).

I have finished speedo lighting, need to do BC and gauges. Steering wheel feels great and smaller dunno why :). I am playing with aftermarket gauges, dont like blue version and one was silver the other was white. I drew it as simple as possible (made boost RED over 1 bar for fun) so it looks like factory ones i have. Lighting will be the same as speedo not so proud of that version i got where everything is litt not only numbers n stuff :(.

ImageImage

Testing different prints n papers, led still need improving I havent got right one so i will buy it next week.

This is not my picture but i have same factory gauges

Image

It will suit my handmade gauges :).

ImageImageImageImage

This is how aftermarket ones are always blue :).

Image

Zealum 50mm2 fitted nicely.

63.5mm FMIC pipes from TX Autosport with clamps and some silicon bits.

Wow some serious work is going into that, keep it up and keep the updates coming, it's great watching the progression of a build especially when its a LET and not some shabby saab lump.
I'm gonna find me a reckless woman,
Razor blades and dice in her eyes,
Just a touch of sadness in her fingers,
Thunder and lightening in her thighs.

Swapped the wheels, I've got better tires on retro ones and green calibra is out of registration for a few days so im gonna drive blue one :).

ImageImageImage

It runs great trough the snowy woods but OEM GARGY style asks for some 17" winter wheels :)
Image

Enzo H 17" ET40 with 215/45-17 are ready to be fitted

I've set fuel pressure using another gauge, and its 3.5bar VAC OFF on RED's for ph3 or 4.5bar yellows :). I need to adjust the needle, it needs to go even more left under 0, crap gauge but it works :).

Washed the wheels

Image

Ex owner gave me air filter box and panel K&N so i washed it. I got bored of that chinese cone filter sucking/blowing air sound, I will block factory BOV soon anywayz.

Image

I've weighted it, its ~80kg lighter then the green one :P.

Image

I was planing on puting 12" but since its so light i decided to put 15", its a bit dusty but will kick just fine :).

Few days of drawing, calculating and planing i managed to assemble it. Hoped id finish it soon but something came up..

Cutting the woofer hole

ImageImageImage

Preparing port for painting in metallic black.

ImageImage

Drilling holes and gluing t-nuts.
Image

I was in a hurry and cut port hole with electric saw but it wasnt perfect so i filled it with fiberglass.

ImageImageImage

Assembled it and finished for the night, hoping to continue in the morning when it gets cured.
Image

Next morning i just didnt like it, it was sealed but i was not satisfied ;). I redid top part and cut port holes on my friends machine cutter :), it took 2 more days but now its perfect!

Added some bracings, every part is glued and screwed, inside i sealed it with transparent silicone.
ImageImageImageImage

Fits perfectly, it has 160liters with ports, speaker and bracings, tuned to 33hz since i dont do SPL. Its loud as hell, not low and precise as IDmax but much louder :).
ImageImage

Just testing this tiny rockford and it sounds amazing, amps will not be placed like this, this is only for testing. I need to finish the looks, every wire will be hidden when i finish amp rack.

BUTTTT in the meantime something POPPED UP :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyTsOawqAdY

I never test max speed. I was on a highway racing with my friend, pushed it all the way to 7500rpm in every gear. In 5th gear on 230+ i changed to 6th gear and she wasnt speeding anymore :(. I slowed down heard that engine sounds bad and drove for few more kilometers, stopped at a nearest parking and realized she is gone :). I will remove head soon and see whats up :). She has 240k km on the clock, my friend never did the engine or a turbo, it was time anyway...
