I was thinking that at one point because the temp gauge didn't drop below 100 for the entire journey and the fan never kicked in???

That'll be the first job then... "Its part of the joys of running an old car" is what I told the mrs but she didn't buy it...

Well I took the thermostat out today to check its operation and it appears to work fine but it has 82c written on the base of it. I am guessing this will explain its low running temp normally.

What I did notice was when squeezing the top rad hose I could hear air being expelled and when I let go it would suck air back in. I traced this back to the coolant bottle area so it could be a pipe, the bottle or the cap that is leaking. This lack of pressure I hope is explaining the higher running temp.

It starting raining before I had chance to look at the fan.

Can someone tell me what fuse it is cos I'm not sure?

Thanks,

No its not lost any water which I find odd.

Today when I took it out the temperature when from cold to the RED line in about 2 mins so I quickly turned around and headed home then 30s later the temperature dropped down to 95 and just as I pulled on to the driveway it dropped back down to COLD.

I'm missing something here?

Maybe faulty temperature sender?
