My current plans for the Calibra:

- White LED’s for Interior roof light, Numberplate lamps, Boot, Glove Box and Parkers (LED’s currently in transit)

- Opelise front V grille (45mm badge currently in transit)

- Replace/Modernise tired looking Clutch-Brake-Gas pedals

- A nice black (leather) steering wheel cover. (Im very picky about this lol)

- Fix some minor drooping roof lining

- Window tint all round 35% (That’s Darkest legal in my state)

- Remove rear bumper vinyls and re-spray rear bumper

- (Possibly) paint side, front and rear trim either black or white.

UPDATE TIME!

It’s LED Conversion Time!
The transformation is amazing in my eyes! In the flesh.. the White LED’s are so much brighter and add so much more to the cally. Its breathed a breath of fresh air to the car! Really does look so much more modern and fresh! Away are the horrible dull yellow globes!
Much thanks to my man Eddey for helping this happen! Cheers matey!

Standards to LED’s – So much brighter with a hint of blue.. The new look is great!
Image

Shows the rear numberplate off much better aye? ;) So much more fresh!
Image

With LED’s the interior is so much more of a joy to be in. Its so bright and vibrant now I got a comment from a passenger the other night that they needed glasses it was so much brighter than before XD
Image

Much easier to see the whole boot now!
Image

Again fresh looking even in the Glove Box! :P
Image

The rear looks complete now! Opelised, chrome badges and LED numberplate lamps! Proud to leave the tailgaters in my dust now! ;)
Image

Blue Tinged Cally XD
Image

LED Parkers are on only here! Amazed at how bright it looks now!
Image

Low Beams on too here! Much more yellow looking in comparison!
Image

Much easier to see in this shot.. At a distance a nice colour toning can be seen. Bluer parkers against white low beams!

Any Opel badges/stickers that will fit my steering wheel here?

Image

Calibra drivers will know there's a lip around the emblem here and most stickers wont stick to the plastic/leather that is the steering wheel.
Is the only option to superglue an emblem over it?

Ebay for the covers.. never thought of looking on there for one.
Was thinking of either pick a part or from a fellow forum-er!
Cheers!

These Buggers are not always so easy to get...
It may take a fair amount of time, or you could just get lucky and score one tomorrow...
Either way, it's the best option, as a basic Opel sticker on there, looks very ordinary from what I've seen...

What is the reason for changing the badges?

Can't understand this at all,

Example...Opel owners in Europe see Opel as a budget brand and think Vauxhall is a better car.

Most people here that own Vauxhall Monaro's re-badge them as Holden.

It's just badge snobbery, and that's always been a bad thing.

First off.. I'm just weighing up my options for the steering wheel badge.. I'm in no hurry. The steering wheel itself is looking al ittle tired.. that's the only reason I thought of possibly changing the lot.

As for changing the badging.. well I'm not a big believer of de-badging and I initially wasn't going to. Touch any of them at all.. The one thing that pushed me along was the front v-grille lion badge was of the old 80's version and was half faded. -It was showing its age.
Also the rear badge was fading too but was contrary to the front lion badge. -The rear badge was an updated 2000's lion.
The "Calibra_16v" was also looking grey and dull.

So apart from the mis matched badging, it was the faded emblems that got me interested to refresh the car.. with new ones.
With the car's origin and its history (let alone engine), I decided to embrace its true heritage and revamp the car. Honestly its badged as a Holden.. It was never made here.. so thats why I could justify the conversion.

All this aside.. I just like the refreshed and updated look.. the rear and front now looks brand new.. im proud to drive an opel and carry on the heritage. No one should be ashamed to embrace a car's true Identity.

Don't forget.. each to our own right?

ps.. its like hair colour or whatever physical feature we have.. as humans we like to complain and arent happy with what we have.. we'd like to have what we dont initially have.. its like that with badging in a way.
