The On-Going Project SE4

by DanSE4 » Thu Jan 28, 2010 3:30 pm

After my slightly inpromptu entrance to .net yesterday evening, thought I'd better get a bit of an intro to myself & my Calibra going to those who don't know me from .com.

Owned this SE4 for nearly 7 years now but only really started making plans & changes last year. So far it's pretty much been cosmetic (exhaust & shocks I did a few years back) & some "preservation" work. Got more to do this year, Rieger "style" kit to go on, some de-rusting, painting & polybushing of the front running gear, some internals (got all the dash components with blue LED's sitting in a box awaiting to replce my standard ones) & some prep work for my proposed V6 conversion.

V6 conversion was planned for this year but some unexpected expenses over the last couple of months has set me back a while on that one. Will happen but unlikely to be until next year now.

Anyhoo, here's some pics of some of the work that's been carried out of late & some of the car how it is at the moment.

I'm a tad annoyed that I had to spend the money I had aside for the V6 conversion but I can wait, anything can change & I may find the money sooner than I think.

Bought a Veccy GSi just over a year ago & within days driving it thought "yup, one of these has to go in the calibra".

To be honest, I'm not out for as big as I can get with the Calibra. The 2.5 will be a relatively simple swap & with the usual upgrades (g-cams, enlarged TB, 3.8 bar FPR) & of course swapping the cam covers for Vectra ones (engine cover not a requirment), I'd be happy enough to see 200bhp +\-.

Doner cars (Calibra or Cavalier) crop up often enough & the most expensive thing (& getting more difficult to source) would be the F28 that I'd like to use.

Not that I wouldn't like to own a 3.2 Calibra, just that it's more than I really want for this car.

I'm just getting impatient, even though I don't have the funds right now I can't help but continuously trawl flebay & other classifieds for the parts!
