Steering Rack

Been out fixing my car all day fitted new track rod arms and ends,wishbone bones,strut top bearings etc and noticed something weird with the engine running all weight back on all four wheels i turned the steering hard lock left and right and noticed the bulkhead flexing in and out is this normal i have never noticed this before

there is a bit of movement but if you have excess movement it might be that your bulkhead is rotted or thr rubber bushes and gone

would say 15 / 20mm movement not sure if that good or bad

Check your bulkhead bud. This was what I found in mine.

This was the view with the carpets up from inside.

And this was cleaned up ready for repair and yes the bit poking into the hole is the corner of the steering rack mount.

I didn't really have much choice to be honest. I was already committed because I'd just bought a v6 engine, box and full 5 stud set up with brakes and suspension for it
