18" Wheels

by BMJ » Sat Nov 03, 2012 11:56 am

Hi Guys,
I've searched the site but have not been able to find a definitive answer as to whether my cally would experiencing any rubbing with a combination of rim & tyres of 18x8 with an ET 45 rims fitted with 225/35/18's tyres when fitted with eibach springs & koni shocks. I'd like to know if anyone else has a similiar setup and whether or not they experiences any rubbing with this combination, thanks guys.

Thanks Mark and Steve I appreciate the input, I think I'll be safe then on the 18's.

By the way I saw your calibra's in the project section both look fantastic and are inspirational.

All the best, Boris

Mate...

I've got 18 inch mags with an ET40

So recently I finally decided to do, what I've been thinking about doing, for quite some time now...
I shifted the 225/40 R18 wheels from the Rear to the Front, and fitted some 235/40 R18 tyres at the Rear...

I'm thinking about fitting 215/40 R18's to the Front in the near Future, to ease the Steering a bit...
But I would certainly NOT be fitting tyres of a 35 Profile, as our roads here will kill your wheels in a short time...

Anyway, the First thing that I noticed, was that the Gap at the rear between the wheel and the wheel arch,
was reduced quite a bit, and it looks like 'Lowering' may not be required anymore, which is good for me...

I've driven alot over the last few days, to Test it all out, and not only has the handling improved alot,
but it also feels heaps better when going over the bumps as well...

I'm really happy with the 235's on the Rear, and would suggest it to anyone, except Turbo Owners!

Hi Eddey,
Sounds good, i sent a PM. I wouldn't mind taking my cally for a bit of thrash. Parramatta would be the place for me to meet.

Best wishes Boris.

I've got 18x7.5" (et42) with 215/35R18 tyres lowered 40mm all round. Loads of room on the rear but very close on the front suspension. I can only just get my finger in between the wheel rim and the suspension - see pic below.
So if you go wider then you'll need to adjust the offset to keep the wheel away from the suspension.
